How do I add a speaker?

1. Log in to the Wordpress CMS at by clicking ‘admin’ on the top menu.

2. On the left navigation menus, under Users, click ‘Add New’

3. Fill in the username as [firstname].[lastname], all lower case. For names with ‘van’, ‘van der’, separate each word with . – e.g. annamarie.van.dijk

4. Fill in the first and last name fields.

5. Fill in the speaker’s email if you have it. If you don’t have it, enter [username]@europeanpwn-amsterdam.net, where username is what entered for username above. This is a fake email address because the system requires an email address.

6. For the password, enter the password given in the email. Everyone will initially have the same password.

7. Leave the role as Speaker.

8. Click the ‘Add User’ button.

9. Edit the user.

10. Fill in the ‘Biographical Info’. Add links where appropriate in the following format:
<a href=”http://someurl.com”>name of link</a>
e.g. <a href=”http://google.com”>Google</a>

11. If the speaker photo is available on the internet, enter the url to the photo in the ‘AIM’ field. If you wish to upload the photo, enter /wp-content/uploads/[filename] e.g. /wp-content/uploads/anna.png.

12. Click the ‘Update User’ button at the bottom.

13. If you indicated that you wish to upload the photo in Step 11 above, on the left navigation menus, under Media, click ‘Add New’. Select the photo on your computer.

After a speaker has been added, a link to the speaker can be made from an event post, by filling in the ’speaker.id’ custom field to the username entered above.
