Upon her return to the Netherlands (1995) she initially worked as a trainer/consultant with a focus on appraisal systems (Breda). Later she joined an international headhunter in Amsterdam. In January 1999 she started her own agency in Amsterdam. Her services focus on diversity and crosscultural management. She applies different systems to make individuals aware of their preferred styles of behaviour and patterns in decision making, against the backdrop of organizational goals and team dynamics. Since January 2003 she operates from Zwolle.

Speaker: Nicky Nargues

It starts with Brigitte Bardot, Catherine Deneuve, Vanessa Paradis, Marion Cotillard, and continues through the countless women you’ve seen in the streets of France.

How do these women master style? How do they combine effortless chic with their high sense of fashion? Trust us, it’s not that difficult. If 31 Million French women do it, so can you. That’s our promise to you.

French style is based on a number of rules and we will teach you everything you need to know about them in this 1h30 workshop. Bring your notebooks if you want, but remember, our lessons are fun!

In this workshop, you will learn how to:
-	Find your style
-	Know the clothes that fit you
-	Mix and Match your clothes
-	Accessorize
-	Learn to watch others
-	Shop smart
-	Relax with your looks!

31 Million is a personal style consultancy that trains women on the ins and outs of French fashion whilst exposing them to the secrets of French style and nutrition. Our focus is to offer women in their 20’s to 50’s French style and nutrition lessons, organize for personal wardrobe consultations, arrange exclusive and fun Paris shopping trips, as well as provide a rental platform where women can gain access to French-styled clothing and accessories for any occasion.

31 Million started as a fun venture in Amsterdam, where Franco-Iranian Nicky Adle was missing the action of Paris shopping and decided to spread the word that French women don’t have more taste than others but simply dress and eat according to implicit rules that together constitute the French Touch. Raised in Paris, Nicky has been living in and out of France for the past 15 years, has never (ever!) shopped outside her hometown, or given up on her French eating habits. Like most Parisians, she knows the capital’s shops, current styles and future trends.

On weekdays Nicky is an INSEAD MBA graduate and internet entrepreneur, currently launching wondersale.nl, a promotions and discounts webshop that activates on key calendar dates such as Sinterklaas, Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day.

Our golf pro is Peter Ackerley. Peter is a golf pro since 1966. He has twice won the Dutch National Golf Championship and has played on the European Tour Circuit. Since 1984, Peter is a professional golfing instructor.

The Course “http://www.dorhoutmees.nl”

Dorhout Mees is in Flevoland (about 45 min/1 hour from Amsterdam and Utrecht). The course is good and there are 4 9-hole courses, which means that we can play at our leisure. Flevoland can be windy which makes a bit of a challenge to the average golfer. The course, while challenging, is not exceptionally difficult.

Peter suggests the following program.

for the golfers: 18 holes tournament
for the beginners: 1.5 hours learn a bit of golf: swing, chip and putt + 0.5 hour break + 1 hour on the par 3 course to play some holes

Peter will provide the lesson and take care of the beginners while the experienced golfers are on the course.

Early birds are welcome to reserve a table in the restaurant for lunch before-hand.

Folks that rather stay on after the borrel are also encouraged to make dinner reservations with the restaurant. (You are free to adapt the pre/after program to your Saturday schedule).

Anna is handling the web & logistics.

FEES – the precise cost will vary based on the number of participants. We are trying to keep the lesson, green fees, and practice balls inclusive golfing price to about 50 Euros (very very reasonable).

If you are less mobile – we have not yet included the cost of a golf cart (for example) that would cost extra. Just let me know and I will make the necessary arrangements. Also if you are an experienced golfer but need to hire clubs – that is also not presently included in the price. (not to worry: Clubs are included in the lesson package).

REFRESHMENTS – are not included in the “inclusive” golfing price and will be paid per consumption on site.

Andrea van der Loos is our member golfer-liason with the pro and course. (She will answer “inhoudelijk” questions).
Rieke is the instigator of this activity. (She gets credit for organizing).

We look forward to welcoming you on the links!
If you don’t want to golf but do want to join – you are also welcome to keep Anna company in the clubhouse.

If the weather is truly terrible we can reschedule for the 24th. Do come rain or shine on the 10th. The weather in Amsterdam is not the same as in Flevoland.

If you need transportation – please contact Anna and she will be happy to help you to coordinate. Please also specify if you will be joining the lesson or the round with Andrea.

On 10 September 2009 Rotterdam School of Management (RSM) hosted the event: “Female Entrepreneurs – The Saviours Of Our Economy?” in which three very experienced Dutch women shared their experiences on managing their business.

This event was the second organised by the female members of the RSM OneMBA Class of 2010 and on this occasion in cooperation with the European Professional Women’s Network (EPWN) and the School itself, hosted on the RSM campus.

The event was focused on hearing from three successful female entrepreneurs’ regarding their vision on their contribution to the economy and the chance to discuss and learn from their experiences.

At the start of the event there was an opportunity for attendees to chat informally with one another, which was followed by presentations and a workshop by the entrepreneurs. The evening rounded off with drinks where there was a chance to build upon the insights given in the presentations and workshops.

The Associate Dean MBA Programmes at RSM, Dianne Bevelander, opened the event by sharing some interesting points regarding female entrepreneurs versus male entrepreneurs. For example “What do Peru and Japan have in common regarding this topic?” In fact, in 2007 in these two countries, women were more active in starting a business than men were; (Global Entrepreneurship Monitor 2007).

Eleonore Breukel was the first to share her experiences with the participants. She is Managing Director of Intercultural Communications BV, an intercultural training and coaching firm, and has been an entrepreneur for 25 years. During her first ten years working independently, she started her own company in the Netherlands Antilles. She illustrated that being an foreigner can present difficulties when starting one’s own business, but using skills and abilities such as focusing on the objectives, having an open mind, resilience and hard work, things can work out quite well and you can overcome the barriers you face. After returning to the Netherlands, she started a new business that has been operational for 15 years now. Again, her success has been built on her strong decision making skills and ability to make things happen. The audience welcomed her contributions about things such as “walk the talk” that made much more sense after listening to her experiences, and understanding that “doing the right thing is not always being right”.

Ursula Rozemeijer was the second to speak. She completed the Management Development Program at VNU (media company) and later became a successful e-business consultant with her own consultancy Emio as well as with the office Beam’it. For the past three years she has been the director and co-founder of TC-One, a company that supports business in the sales area. Her presentation was based on her experiences dealing with internal stakeholders and how the “ego”, or the way of doing things right, are not always the right thing to do. Her insights gave the participants some tips on how to approach their personal competences concerning the business they wish to start, and to focus the efforts on the right activities to leverage business. Being a strategic consultant herself, she enlightened the group as to how the questions that need to be asked and answered regarding a start up venture must also be applied to the entrepreneurs themselves.

Last, but not least, drs. Patty Kruiswijk shared her experiences with the group. She has a Master’s degree in Social Sciences and has been active as a coach and a consultant since 1986. Patty has shaped her business since that time and her insights provided the audience with some tools that they needed to be aware of, such as “confront your fears” and “don’t give up”. She has applied this advice to herself in order to become an entrepreneur and to stand out in the crowd.

After the inspiring session the attendees participated in a workshop facilitated by the panellists. They had the opportunity to briefly discuss further regarding the topic, and the session concluded with a Q&A.

The participants at the event came away with some great learnings; Shabnam from One MBA2010 said “it has been a wonderful experience”. Teresa, also from the OneMBA2010 Program, stated “I enjoyed the diversity of the panel. I learned some lessons and I think we can support each other”.

But the event was not only created for women. Male participants from the OneMBA Class of 2010, such as David, came away with tips at the business level and some insights gathered from the panellists, for instance “confront your fears”, showing that the way women share is different to men, and hearing about both sides gave attendees a wider scope of information on how to do business.

Personally, I learned that entrepreneurs are not only the people that start a new business from scratch , but also anybody that starts a project and cooperates with others in order to succeed. So maybe women really are the saviours of the economy!

Patricia Tello
