Leadership Seminar at RSM

Sep
30
19:00

Please join us at Rotterdam School of Management for an
upcoming seminar to give you an opportunity to see leadership from a unique perspective, help you see things that other people don’t see, and challenge the stereotypes that many have about leadership today.

Good or bad leadership can depend on one’s personal perspective; however, examples of leadership that have endured and prospered are the one’s most sought after. To achieve the same we are wise to study what those forms of leaderships were all about. To delve into the principles of natural and effective leadership we must first seek out where effective leadership manifests itself naturally.

What many do not know is that precisely this – highly effective and natural leadership – also exist outside the human world. Many species have, like humans, their own culture and specific society in which leadership plays an important role in the quest for survival.

For millions of years, one of the most successful and flourishing societies of all has been that of the equine society. By studying this utterly pure and very effective way of Equine leadership we can easily grasp the basics and applies what fits to our own. In this seminar we will compare and contrast human leadership with the basics principles derived from the study of equine behavior.

In this seminar about leadership you are offered the opportunity:

- to develop your leadership insights
- to see a bigger picture in a new persepective
- to understand key elements of “natural” leadership
- to look at great leaders in a new context

and to explore a unique perspective of leadership.

The seminar will offer you the opportunity to analyse and understand those who fall under your responsibility and peel away the surface of every day insufficiency. The basics which are unfolded in this seminar have become the foundation of many successful leaders, who in turn have enlightened and enabled their followers.

“Pull the string, and it will follow wherever you wish. Push it, and it will go nowhere at all.” ~Dwight D. Eisenhower

The French Touch part deux

31Million Part Deux

Please welcome Nicky Adle back to hear more about “The French Touch” and how 31 Million women manage and maintain effortless chic and the decadence of French cuisine – without twisting their ankles or gaining a gram.

In the first workshop, we learned the secrets of switching from flip-flops to heels and how to accentuate our assets with accessories and “standard items” in our wardrobe.

Today we will extend our foray into the “French Touch” by discovering The Secrets of French Nutrition. In this workshop you will learn:

-       French women’s approach to weight, satisfaction, pleasure, etc.

-       The tradeoffs they face and decisions they make, the mindset they use regarding food

-       Social norms on dieting and guilt, but also snacking, junk food as well as alcohol

-       The tricks they use on a regular basis

-       Typical meals and recipes for you and your family

-       And finally, the secret, the one and only rule you’ll need to apply, like 31 Million French women do

31 Million is a personal style consultancy that trains women on the ins and outs of French fashion whilst exposing them to the secrets of French style and nutrition. Our focus is to offer women in their 20’s to 50’s French style and nutrition lessons, organize for personal wardrobe consultations, arrange exclusive and fun Paris shopping trips, as well as provide a rental platform where women can gain access to French-styled clothing and accessories for any occasion.nicky.nargues

31 Million started as a fun venture in Amsterdam, where Franco-Iranian Nicky Adle was missing the action of Paris shopping and decided to spread the word that French women don’t have more taste than others but simply dress and eat according to implicit rules that together constitute the French Touch. Raised in Paris, Nicky has been living in and out of France for the past 15 years, has never (ever!) shopped outside her hometown, or given up on her French eating habits. Like most Parisians, she knows the capital’s shops, current styles and future trends.

On weekdays Nicky is an INSEAD MBA graduate and internet entrepreneur, currently launching wondersale.nl, a promotions and discounts webshop that activates on key calendar dates such as Sinterklaas, Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day.

How to become an inspiring mentor

Jun

19:00

We started off the year with a fresh batch of mentors and mentees.  We had some excellent results.  New jobs have been landed.  Professional development in a present position and in a new business development are well on their way…

We’d like to welcome mentors, mentees and everyone interested in the mentoring process. Edith Punt will provide us with a mentoring model and invite mentors and mentees to discuss their mentoring progression and to provide insight to others considering becoming a mentor.  We will also start collecting mentor/mentee applications over the summer for our second round of matching to begin this fall.edith.punt

This workshop will be facilitated by EuropeanPWN-Amsterdam member Edith Punt.

In 1985 Edith started her career as a human resources consultant in Bangkok, Thailand. Upon her return to the Netherlands (1995) she initially worked as a trainer/consultant with a focus on appraisal systems (Breda). Later she joined an international headhunter in Amsterdam. In January 1999 she started her own agency in Amsterdam. Her services focus on diversity and crosscultural management. She applies different systems to make individuals aware of their preferred styles of behaviour and patterns in decision making, against the backdrop of organizational goals and team dynamics. Since January 2003 she operates from Zwolle.

Participants are welcome to network from 19:00 to 20:00. The program begins at 20:00.

Mentoring Program – About Matching

Dec ’09

19:00

The venue is arranged. Eleonore is flying back the day before. The website should be “ready” for show and tell…(sorry my html is a bit rusty and it’s taking a bit more time than I planned. I struggled for far too long yesterday on the Table of Contents – it’s almost done).

This is a member only event – so there is no guest registration.

Please join us at the Renaissance Hotel on 16 December for an overview of the mentoring program, to fill in your mentor/mentee profile, and to work toward your perfect mentoring match.

This year we also have a possibilty to work with other EuropeanPWN networks to share with their excess mentor’s & mentees. All kinds of new possibilities exist for 2010! Come hear about them.

Folks that pre-register will be sent a link to the new Mentoring workbook that we’ve been working on so you’ll have a chance to read up a bit before we begin on the 16th.

Anna’s also promised to bake some of her xmas cookies so save some room for dessert.

Gone already on the 16th – don’t worry. Send me an email and I’ll fill you in in January.

p.s.
html wizards are also welcome to contact me to browse through my code to see what I missed first time round…

GOLF

Let’s go GOLFING!!

Dorhout Mees B.V.
Strandgaperweg 30
8256 PZ Biddinghuizen (NL)
Tel.: 0321-331138
Fax.: 0321-331057

Meeting at the club house 13:00
Tee off for experienced golfers at 13:30
Lesson for beginners at 13:30
Borrel at 17:30 with prizes

Our golf pro is Peter Ackerley. Peter is a golf pro since 1966. He has twice won the Dutch National Golf Championship and has played on the European Tour Circuit. Since 1984, Peter is a professional golfing instructor. peterackerley

The Course “http://www.dorhoutmees.nl”

Dorhout Mees is in Flevoland (about 45 min/1 hour from Amsterdam and Utrecht). The course is good and there are 4 9-hole courses, which means that we can play at our leisure. Flevoland can be windy which makes a bit of a challenge to the average golfer. The course, while challenging, is not exceptionally difficult.

Peter suggests the following program.

for the golfers: 18 holes tournament
for the beginners: 1.5 hours learn a bit of golf: swing, chip and putt + 0.5 hour break + 1 hour on the par 3 course to play some holes

Peter will provide the lesson and take care of the beginners while the experienced golfers are on the course.

Early birds are welcome to reserve a table in the restaurant for lunch before-hand.

Folks that rather stay on after the borrel are also encouraged to make dinner reservations with the restaurant. (You are free to adapt the pre/after program to your Saturday schedule).

Anna is handling the web & logistics.

FEES – the precise cost will vary based on the number of participants. We are trying to keep the lesson, green fees, and practice balls inclusive golfing price to about 50 Euros (very very reasonable).

If you are less mobile – we have not yet included the cost of a golf cart (for example) that would cost extra. Just let me know and I will make the necessary arrangements. Also if you are an experienced golfer but need to hire clubs – that is also not presently included in the price. (not to worry: Clubs are included in the lesson package).

REFRESHMENTS – are not included in the “inclusive” golfing price and will be paid per consumption on site.

Andrea van der Loos is our member golfer-liason with the pro and course. (She will answer “inhoudelijk” questions). andreavanderloos
Rieke is the instigator of this activity. (She gets credit for organizing).

We look forward to welcoming you on the links!
If you don’t want to golf but do want to join – you are also welcome to keep Anna company in the clubhouse.

If the weather is truly terrible we can reschedule for the 24th.  Do come rain or shine on the 10th.  The weather in Amsterdam is not the same as in Flevoland.

If you need transportation – please contact Anna and she will be happy to help you to coordinate.  Please also specify if you will be joining the lesson or the round with Andrea.
