Borrel in Den Haag June 2011

Jun ’11

19:00

The European Professional Women’s Network and Connecting Women are organising the next:

‘EPWN/CW Hague Borrel’

Tuesday 21 June 2011, 19:00-22:00

back at ‘Braque’ in The Hague!

Dear ladies,

Our next EPWN/CW Hague Borrel will be the last opportunity before the Summer Break to
meet other women and exchanging views about work/life in The Netherlands. And remember
that everybody, expats, repats or internationally minded locals are welcome, membership is
not required.

For this upcoming EPWN/CW Hague Borrel, which will take place on Tuesday 21 June
2011 from 19:00-21:00, we will return again to Braque (www.brasseriebraque.nl) in
Scheveningen Harbour. ‘Braque’ is what used to be restaurant ‘Raar’, the place where the
EPWN Hague Borrel first started. They have shown us great hospitality so far and we even
have our very own, very charming bartender Bart! Braque is located on the OTHER side of the
Scheveningen Harbour. The address is Dr. Lelykade 33-37, Den Haag, and as always, we will
have a table at our disposal for your business cards in order to promote your own business.

Brasserie Braque

Brasserie Braque is a French restaurant, situated on the 2nd harbour in Scheveningen. The heated terrace has a great view of the harbour. The restaurant offers a great location for drinks, dinner and is on Sundays also open for lunch. The kitchen team always works with day fresh products to create great fish, meat and vegetarian dishes. You can even buy produce at the delicatessen department.

And … Braque has made us a special offer – we will get 3 (!!) drinks for our pre-paid €12,50 plus canapes!

Cost and registration

The cost of the Borrel is €12,50 per person. This will entitle you to three (!!) drinks plus nibbles and tapas. You are asked to pay this upon arrival, for which you will receive a restaurant coin to redeem your drinks at the bar. Additional drinks are at your own cost –

the bar will close at 22:00.

Please make sure you register your attendance (either as a member or as a guest) via the EPWN website http://europeanpwn-amsterdam.net/events/borrel-in-den-haag-june-2011. Alternatively, you can send an email to Erika at erika@bothassistanceandsupport.nl. For more information on the event, see www.connectingwomen.nl.

Please also don’t forget to de-register if you are not able to make this event! We need to confirm the number of attendees with the restaurant 24 hours in advance. When pre-registered people do not show up, this puts us in a difficult position, as the restaurant has prepared food for more people.

Directions to the venue

This location, Braque (formerly ‘Raar’) is located on the other side of the Scheveningen harbour, next to restaurant Waterproef;  the address is Dr. Lelykade 33-37, Den Haag. For more details about the venue, go to their website www.brasseriebraque.nl. There is plenty of free parking.

If you are travelling by public transport, take tram #17 from Den Haag Centraal Station (richting Statenkwartier) and get off at the stop called Van Boetzelaerlaan. Or take tram #11 to the Duinstraat stop. We are looking forward to seeing you all and to enjoying yet another very exciting networking evening!

Don’t miss out on our next networking evenings; please take note of the following EPWN/CW Hague Borrel dates and be sure to keep them free in your diary:

Outside you see an office block in the business discrict of Amsterdam. Inside you find a world where the new comes crashing down on the old, and the future is anything but clear. A world created by the English company dreamthinkspeak. Artistic director Tristan Sharps’ mix of film and live performance was based on Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard. The old servant Firs is the only one still wandering about, adrift in time, looking for a place to rest. He leads us from the Old Russia to a mecca for the new millennium, a journey spanning hundred years and covering fifty four thousand square feet of floor space, which makes you realise what it means to feel a stranger in your own world.

Please note: this is a continuing performance. People will be given admission in small groups every 5 minutes.  So please buy or order your ticket in advance at www.hollandfestival.nl, then we can enter the theater together as the epwn group.

Gender differences related to the unwritten rules of business

No matter in which industry you work, the rules are the same all over.

For all women it is important to learn the rules of the game in business. Not to adjust but to make their own choice whether to play the same game or to play their own game. Playing the game in business is fun and as it is written, it is a game!
During this workshop  you will find out the rules on yourself and you will see a video that makes clear how gender differences appear and how you can use them in a positive way.

The program will be very dynamic and members and guests are asked to participate actively in discussions. Many examples from business will be presented to support the topics that appear.

Monic Buhrs (1962, originally from Australia) has an engineering and financial background. She has had several technical and management positions before starting In Touch Women Resource Management (http://www.intouchwrm.nl) in 1997, together with Elisa de Groot. Since then she has been active in the field of executive search (women only), coaching and training on business oriented gender issues. She is co-writer of the books “Stratego voor Vrouwen” (nominated managementbook of the year in 2008 and “Strategisch Onderhandelen voor Vrouwen”. The English version of Stratego voor Vrouwen will be available soon.

Please join us on June 28th, 2011 at the Renaissance Hotel Amsterdam (Kattengat 1, 1012 SZ) for this inspiring and informative event with Monic Buhrs.

Participants are welcome to network from 19:00 to 20:00. The program begins at 20:00.
