After 10 years of working in the corporate world designing high tech products, she got back in contact with her early passion for fine art. Inspired to deepen her knowledge of the psychological effects of colors, lines and shapes, Daniella obtained her degree as an art therapist. In just 3 short years, Daniella has created a program that allows participants to experience clarity through art. Incorporating fine art, the process of art therapy and the business world has put her skills to the test as an entrepreneur. Specialized in experiencing art as a creative tool for clarity: fun is assured. Daniella runs Atelier Werkplaats Molenpad in Amsterdam. We started off the year with a fresh batch of mentors and mentees.  We had some excellent results.  New jobs have been landed.  Professional development in a present position and in a new business development are well on their way…

We’d like to welcome mentors, mentees and everyone interested in the mentoring process. Edith Punt will provide us with a mentoring model and invite mentors and mentees to discuss their mentoring progression and to provide insight to others considering becoming a mentor.  We will also start collecting mentor/mentee applications over the summer for our second round of matching to begin this fall.

This workshop will be facilitated by EuropeanPWN-Amsterdam member Edith Punt.

In 1985 Edith started her career as a human resources consultant in Bangkok, Thailand. Upon her return to the Netherlands (1995) she initially worked as a trainer/consultant with a focus on appraisal systems (Breda). Later she joined an international headhunter in Amsterdam. In January 1999 she started her own agency in Amsterdam. Her services focus on diversity and crosscultural management. She applies different systems to make individuals aware of their preferred styles of behaviour and patterns in decision making, against the backdrop of organizational goals and team dynamics. Since January 2003 she operates from Zwolle.

31 Million started as a fun venture in Amsterdam, where Franco-Iranian Nicky Adle was missing the action of Paris shopping and decided to spread the word that French women don’t have more taste than others but simply dress and eat according to implicit rules that together constitute the French Touch. Raised in Paris, Nicky has been living in and out of France for the past 15 years, has never (ever!) shopped outside her hometown, or given up on her French eating habits. Like most Parisians, she knows the capital’s shops, current styles and future trends.

Cost and registration

The international negotiation process is an alternative to warfare. In cases of conflicts negotiation is more effective than violence although to go to war is often perceived easier than to start the viable process of peaceful conflict resolution.

In an interactive lecture Paul Meerts of the Clingendael Institute in The Hague will give us insight in the international negotiation process and will address questions like: Why is negotiation – nowadays – the only legitimate conflict resolution method in the European Union? How did interstate bargaining evolve over time? When is a situation ready for negotiation and when is a negotiation process ready for an outcome? How do you deal with issues like trust and power, character and culture, interests and emotions? How do effective negotiators behave, what kind of strategies and tactics are applied? And what is the role of the unconscious?

The interactive session will:

• Increase your knowledge about the international negotiation processes
• Give you insight into your own negotiation behavior
• Help you to understand the negotiation behavior of countries

Join us on Monday, June 7^th 2010 when we will get an insight on how negotiations are dealt with on an international level. We will receive key insights which we can then apply when dealing with negotiations in a business environment.

Intellectual Property is seen as “the oil of the 21^st century”. It is the biggest asset of all businesses: from global corporations like Coca Cola® to independent advisors whose value lies in their trademarks, copyrights, designs, patents, and knowledge.

As an entrepreneur: Are you protecting your knowledge and innovation? Is there a way to better exploit your intellectual property? How can intellectual property enhance your market value?

And if you are in the corporate arena: What happens to your intellectual creation? To what extent are you the owner of your own work? How can you protect yourself?

Our guest speaker Reini van Leeuwen-Torenstra is Managing Counsel Intellectual Property (IP) in the Intellectual Property Services team of Shell Group. She and her teams provide world-wide advice regarding all aspects of Intellectual Property arrangements for Shell Group. This spans from technology transfer arrangements and Intellectual Property development activities with third parties to mergers and acquisitions. Other areas of IP activities are software licensing, advice on the subject of copyright licensing, trademarks, and domains across the various companies forming the Shell Group.

With a degree from Delft University of Technology Reini started her career as a naval architect for – at that time – the largest Dutch ship building company. Having acquired a law degree from Leiden University she then joined Shell as a patent attorney trainee. With a qualification as a Dutch and European patent attorney she first worked in the patent team of Shell’s Intellectual Property Services team where she dealt with all aspects of patent generation, prosecution, maintenance as well as opposition procedures. Currently, Mrs. van Leeuwen is managing counsel Intellectual Property for the Shell Group.

They have a number of fun activities up their sleeves designed to get us up and moving about, meeting people in innovative and creative ways. The aim of the evening is to get to know each other at a deeper level and to engage in conversations that we are truly passionate about.

How to use your voice in cross-gender communication

Do you recognize one of the following situations?

You want to bring in your ideas in a meeting and your male colleague keeps interrupting you. You cannot manage to make your point while he gets all the attention. OR: You try to interrupt a colleague in a meeting but no one seems to notice you. OR: Men tend to get irritated when you speak although you say nothing wrong.

What can you do to make yourself, and your ideas, be heard by the other gender? Your voice makes the difference! Did you know that how you say something has more influence than what you say? In this workshop you will learn to use your voice as an instrument with which you direct the dynamics of communication.

Men and women have different voices; they use their voices in separate ways and have their distinct preferences for what voices they like. To find the right connective tone is more difficult for women than for men. That is why it is of utmost importance to learn about the do’s and don’ts of using your voice during an interactive workshop with Gerdie van den Bergh. Gerdie is a communication trainer and bodymind/voice coach at Alle Tonen, training and coaching. She developed her communication skills in both her profession as a policewoman in Rotterdam as well as a body worker in her own practice. Having worked 20 years as the only woman in a male team Gerdie learned how to handle gender communication. Her passion is to connect people and teach them to bridge differences.

The workshop during which practical voice work is an important part will allow you to understand:

• The effects of the voice in gender communication
• How to listen to your own voice
• How to achieve a greater connection with your own voice
