Advisory Board

Annette Nijs

Annette NijsAnnette Nijs is Managing Director of the Europe China Institute of Nyenrode Business University in the Netherlands. She was formerly Dutch State Secretary of Education, Science and Culture and before that pursued an international career with Shell in Europe, Middle East, US and the Far East. Annette has a Masters degree in macro-economics from Erasmus University in Rotterdam and an executive MBA from the London Business School (LBS). She is currently working on a PhD on the export portfolio of China. Annette has been a committed member of EuropeanPWN Amsterdam for the past few years, and has a great deal to offer on perspectives for women leadership in the Netherlands.

Avivah Wittenberg-Cox

Avivah Wittenberg-CoxAvivah Wittenberg-Cox is the founder, and former President, of EuropeanPWN. Based in France, Avivah is a certified executive coach and spent five years as a Visiting Coach at INSEAD. She began her career as a computer programmer for L’Oréal and then spent several years with HR consultants Towers, Perrin in Brussels and Geneva. Canadian, French and Swiss, Avivah has a BA from the University of Toronto, an MBA from INSEAD and completed the Women’s Leadership Program at Harvard. She is Managing Director of Diafora, dedicated to promoting gender diversity in organizations. We welcome Avivah’s experience and insight to our Advisory Board.

Dick Harryvan

Dick HarryvanDick Harryvan has been with ING for more than 25 years and is based in the Netherlands. Currently he is a member of the Executive Board of ING Group, responsible for ING Direct globally. He holds a master’s degree in Business Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam (majoring in finance), and has held many positions within ING. Dick is committed to promoting the progress of women within ING, and, as the first male advisor to EuropeanPWN-Amsterdam, will serve as a real role model to other senior male managers.

Karien van Gennip

Karien van GennipKarien van Gennip has been a member of Parliament for the CDA in the present government since November, 2006. She is party leader of the CDA for Amsterdam, and the former State Secretary for Economic Affairs in the second and third Balkende governments (between May 2003 and November 2006). She studied applied physics at Delft University of Technology, graduating in 1993. In 1995, she graduated as a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the European Institute of Business Administration (INSEAD) in Fontainebleau, France. In 1994 and from 1996 to 2002, Ms Van Gennip worked for McKinsey & Co. in Amsterdam and San Francisco. From September 2002, she led the reorganisation of the Financial Markets Authority, and was appointed its director in 2003. Ms. van Gennip has long been involved in promoting the interests of professional women in the Netherlands and brings a great deal of experience to the advisory board.
